Tackling injustices facing people
with disabilities through
ground-breaking legal solutions
22 October 2021
Your invitation to participate
in finding solutions
LawHack 2021: Disability Justice is a unique event that will bring together bright minds, passionate hearts, and brilliant professionals for one purpose: to tackle the injustices facing Australians living with disabilities with ground-breaking legal solutions.
The 100% online event will be disruptive, innovative and bring people together to develop new strategies to defend the rights of people living with disabilities through the law.
LawHack is your opportunity to help secure accessibility, advocate for inclusion and make change.
Held across two days on 14 and 22 October, participants will be presented with a problem, deliver a legal strategy, an outline of pleadings to initiate court proceedings, and they will identify the characteristics of the most appropriate plaintiff to substantiate the claims.
UPDATE: Due to COVID restrictions, LawHack is now an online event.
To kick off Lawhack, participants will gather for a plenary session on Thursday October 14 (16:30-18:30), where they will meet their team members, learn more about their task, and listen to a keynote speech.
Then on Friday October 22, Hackers will work together in three sessions across the day (10:00-12:00, 13:00-15:00, 16:00-18:00) to develop their legal and advocacy strategy, speak to mentors, and pitch to the panel of judges.
LawHack 2021: Disability Justice will take place on the lands of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, whose sovereignty was never ceded. We pay our respect to their elders past, present and emerging.
